Taking Chances

A beautiful day for a walk and a scavenger hunt.
About four months ago my husband and I did something most people just talk about; we opened up our very own business.  It was the hardest, but most gratifying thing we have ever done.  There have been a whole bunch of sleepless nights; nights we were worrying about money and wondering if we knew what the heck we were doing, and so many good things have blossomed from the sacrifices we've made.  We learn and grow every day.  We get to enjoy the feeling of NOT having to answer to a boss, and revel in the knowledge that WE DID IT.  That was the hardest part-actually pulling the trigger.  But somehow it freed us.  Even though we are by no means "out of the woods," we now see endless possibilities and many roads on which we could travel.  As a bonus, our son and daughter get to grow up with fond memories of spending countless hours in our Pet Shop.  There is nothing better than hearing our customers say how wonderful our store is, and how healthy and happy our animals look.  Our hard work is starting to pay off, and things will only get better.  Best of all, happiness comes with doing what you love!

On a side note, this decision has also had a bit of a chain reaction.  My mother has now decided to dive in by opening a pet grooming salon.  While she is in the "Holy crap!   What have I done?" stage, I know she will succeed.  She is strong, intelligent, and a bit of a perfectionist-not a bad thing in this business.

My boy holding a leather back bearded dragon.  That's love.

That leads me to this blog.  I have a sort of warped vision...of where I would like to take this blog.  I needed to start somewhere, and since I have never done anything like this before, I am closing my eyes, holding my breath, and hoping.  As I learn and grow, so will the blog.  I am taking it one step at a time.  Soooo what can you find here??  I little of this a little of that.  I have a passion for animals, books, crafts, and my family.  I'm going to see where it leads me.

I know I am enjoying the adventure!

...My mother, the other unbaked cake, will post soon.
